Love All Lovely, Love Divine

Lo, how a Rose e'er blooming from tender stem has sprung!
Of Jesse's lineage coming as saints of old have sung.
It came, a flow'r-et bright, amid the cold of winter, when half-spent was the night.

Come, thou long-expected Jesus! born to set thy people free, from our fears and sins release us, let us find our rest in thee. Israel's strength and consolation, hope of all the earth thou art, dear desire of ev'ry nation, joy of ev'ry longing heart.

This is the irrational season when love blossoms bright and wild.
Had Mary been filled with reason there'd have been no room for the child.
